I have meaning for some time to make a film about our life in Cameroon, so here it is. A snapshot of life in Cameroon. Music by Tata Kingue our pop star friend. the film ends with a snippet of an interview with our best friend Didimus.
This is my first attempt at film making and it was fun once I got a hang of the software.

whosoever said cameroon is a land of freedom. i don't think so. whichever cameroonian you get to interview is a liar and sends across incorrect messages.
Well Anonymous, these are Didimus' views. We did not tell him in anyway what to say and how dare you call him a liar. He is saying what he believes to be true as a Cameroonian.
Ah - that brings back memories.
people are suffering in cameroon. those are his views because he is a well to do fellow. others don't think that way. i am a cameroonian and i don't think that people would appreciate what he says. Well too bad i'm not there to punch him right in the face.
You cannot say that about a man you do not know. Didimus is not a 'well to do fellow'. He was a great friend to us whilst we were in Cameroon.
He knows full well people are suffering but he has not had the opportunity to leave unlike yourself and this is what he thinks about the place he lives.
why are we arguing in the first place. you know well people are suffering and dying of aids and other causes everyday. you had a good time in cameroon going to the beaches and all what not. i had a hard time trying to put food on the table. oh why do the rich get richer and the poor poorer huh? this life is so unfair. white people get everything and black people are doomed to fail huh and not only in africa but everywhere.
Well that is very sad that is your view. We went to Cameroon to help, I worked with people with AIDS and we donated money and food to those in need. I know the problems are real. I was not there to have a nice time but to try and help, it is a shame you cannot appreciate that.
Very good. Whatever anonymous says all the people you met seemed very happy. Of course this was only a small part of a large country
"anonymous" isn't a Cameroonian. I'm one, grew up in Cameroon, and would recognize one when i 'read' one.
A great video Hev!!! And a lively debate! I think you get across the spirit of the Cameroonian people very well. Anonymous: People are not stupid - they know that there is great suffering and problems in many parts of Africa, that's why Hev and Joe went there, they certainly did not get richer in terms of finance but I would say they certainly did through the experience, and influence of the people they met. I worked in Kenya and I saw a lot of suffering, poverty and corruption myself but it isn't all like that. People were proud of their country and their heritage. The spirit and strength of the people is a great and positive thing that should not be disregarded in the face of poverty.
It's easy to criticize.
Just try making a short movie and see what it takes.
